Remember to Celebrate Every Day

Yesterday Matthias and I celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary.

When we were deciding what to do for the day, Matthias said, “it doesn’t really matter what we do. We celebrate all the time.” I’m not sure if all the time is completely accurate, but it’s true that we try to make the most of each day. We do what brings us joy and we relish the simplest of pleasures.

Five years ago Matthias was battling cancer. He remains ever grateful for the lessons from that experience. One lesson? Each day is a gift. Each day is something to celebrate.

Are you celebrating?

Celebrations don’t have to be big. Eating breakfast out in the garden is a celebration. Taking a walk in the park is a celebration. Cutting flowers for the house is a celebration.

Big events are easy to celebrate. The smaller, ordinary days can get lost in the shuffle. But I try to remind myself, again and again, to celebrate the littlest joys, to make every day special.

Maybe you need a reminder, too?
