Saying Goodbye, For Now
Are you seeing it there? Here spring is arriving a little bit more each day. I spotted the first flowers last week. A surprise of purple peeking out of the grass.
Tulip and daffodil leaves are pushing up in the same spot. I wonder what this one time garden looked like before nature took over. Our first spring here is a time of discovery, but there are still so many mysteries.
Almost a year ago exactly, I was craving simplicity and quiet, time and space, so I stepped back a bit from blogging. I went from posting twice a month to once a month, but I didn’t take a real break, not even during the months of buying our country home, moving and getting our house in town ready for sale. I’m not sure how I did it all.
But I need a break now. It’s been building for a while and I’m burned out. I need time to focus on figuring out what I want this new life here to look like. I’ve been living old habits and I want to create new ones. I need space and quite to decide how I want to run my business. How I want to live my days. I’ve been blogging for a long time and as much as I’ve always loved blogs and blogging, I know that I need to spend less time on the computer.
I can’t tell you how hard this decision has been. It means a lot to me to be able to connect with you in this way. I’m grateful for your encouragement and support. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. And to the sweet handful of paid subscribers on Substack (your belief in my work truly means so much).
I don’t yet have a plan. I’m saying goodbye “for now,” but there’s no timeline. It feels freeing!
I’m not disappearing completely. If you want to stay in touch, be sure you’re signed up for the JoyLetter. I have a new Skillshare class coming out later this month (it’s on keeping a garden journal!). The Art Bundle for Good is coming back soon, too. And if you’re local, I’ll be participating in the Winding Roads Art Tour again in June. I’ll be sharing all of that in my JoyLetters and more inspiration, too.
Thank you, sweet friends, for spending time here with me. Take good care. Enjoy your days and the ever-shifting seasons and be sure to make time for your creativity, too.
