Pink Orchid in a Clay Pot Watercolor Painting

Pink Orchid in a Clay Pot Watercolor Painting

Do you have an orchid (or a few) growing on your windowsill? They're easier to grow than you might think. The flowers of an orchid like this one, a phalaenopsis, stay on the plant for months, providing a burst of color (and joy) for your home.

This painting was inspired by one of the many orchids growing in my studio and even if you don't grow your own joy, this painting can give you a connection to the natural world. This little orchid will keep blooming and blooming long after the flowers on a living plant have faded.

The long, thin shape of the paper gives the painting a stylized beauty, the leaves and stem curved to fit within its confines.

Framed and hung in just the right spot in your home, this orchid will bring a bit of color to even the darkest corner. You'll have flowers no matter what the season and be reminded of the joys and magic of nature each day.
