Colorful Coneflowers Watercolor Painting

Colorful Coneflowers Watercolor Painting

The echinacea or coneflower is one of those flowers that is the epitome of summer. The wild form is called "purple" and is more of a pink color, but the garden version has been bred to be many colors.

No matter the color, these flowers have a pollen-filled center "cone" surrounded by a flutter of petals. It's irresistible to butterflies and bees. The plant is a rough and hardy as native prairie plant are and yet they are elegant, too.

This painting depicts five color versions of the flower: dark pink, light pink, yellow, orange and a dark reddish orange.

Framed and hung in your home it will remind you of joyful summer days, of buzzing bees and sunshine.
