Hello, my friend,

Happy July!

How are things in your neighborhood?

June has come and gone and here we’re fully into summer, my favorite season.

My garden has been slow this year. Looking back at photos from past summers I see we’re about a month behind.

At least for things like my roses.

I’m trying to slow down myself, to savor these days.

I’ve felt so inspired lately, enjoying painting flowers from the garden.

I’m also trying to unplug as much as possible. Staying off my computer and social media, being present in this moment with sights and sounds, fragrances and tastes, letting the feel of the season root me in the here and now.

But it’s hard. It’s hard not to feel as if I’m falling behind. It’s hard not to feel in a rush to get things finished. It’s hard to let go of expectations (even my own) and go with the flow.

I’m working on it.

It helps to have a schedule and to keep my computer turned off (and phone in the other room). Some things will inevitably be left out. And that’s ok.

What about you? How do you balance all you want to do with all you need to do? How do you make sure to set aside time to savor the days?

“Live each season as it passes; breathe the air, drink the drink, taste the fruit, and resign yourself to the influence of the earth.”

Henry David Thoreau

My web shop is fully stocked with many new paintings. The paintings from my recent show are back in stock, too. Plus I’ve added new prints to my Etsy shop.

That’s all for now. I hope you’re finding time to savor these July days. Thanks for inviting me to your inbox!

Until next time, wishing you joy,
